Musical Chairs.....at Disneyland??

It's about 2pm, you're enjoying a cold coca-cola at Refreshment Corner when all of a sudden you see the Red Queen, the Mad Hatter and Alice!!  They're clearing an area and setting up chairs.  They ask if there are any kids that would like to join in a game of musical chairs.

The ragtime pianist provides the music and the game begins.  When each child is eliminated, the Mad Hatter asks the kid to tell a joke but if they don't have one....he'll help them out.  They continue on until they get down to the last two kids.  Alice and the Mad Hatter wind the kids thru Coke Corner, around tables and chairs as well as people.  In this crazy process, the chairs have all been moved and you're not sure which chair is the "last" chair.  The music stops and the two kids find a chair and sit down.

The Red Queen, Mad Hatter & Alice group together to decide on the winner.  They announce that both kids are the winners!!  Then they let the kids know what they've just won..........they get to put the chairs and tables back!!!

This is a fun game with characters that has been somewhat of a secret, with the word being spread by mouth.  The last I checked, it wasn't on the daily schedule and it's not guaranteed to be done every afternoon. We learned about this afternoon treat and put it in our plans for our 2010 trip.  As soon as we saw the characters, my kids went up and asked if they could play.  (if there are lots of kids, not all of them will be able to participate).  My daughter fell while circling the chairs & Alice and the Mad Hatter were very good with her and made sure she was ok.  My son was one of the winners and got to help straighten up.

These little extras are what makes these Disneyland trips so special.  My kids still talk about it and hopefully they'll get a chance to do it again in the near future.
